Veerle Baetens is uitgeroepen tot 'Beste actrice' op het Tribeca Film Festival in New York. Ze wint de prijs voor haar rol als Elise in "The Broken Circle Breakdown". De jury had lovende woorden over voor de actrice:
"We’ve selected a woman who shows herself to be a totally committed and fiercely versatile actress. Veerle Baetens’ character goes from a sunny free spirit to grieving wife and mother, and no matter where we are in the course of that journey, this actress shows us the light burning inside her character, one that both sustains and destroys. De film van Felix van Groeningen kon ook nog de prijs voor 'Beste scenario' in de wacht slepen. "The Broken Circle Breakdown" is duidelijk ook potten aan het breken in de Verenigde Staten.
